Ashanti Anderson, also known as Shan (pronounced “Shawn”), is a Black Queer Disabled writer and a 2023 National Endowment for the Arts fellow. She is the author of Black Under, which won the Spring 2020 Black River Chapbook Competition at Black Lawrence Press.
A two-time Pushcart Prize nominee, her poems have appeared in POETRY magazine, World Literature Today, and other publications.
In addition to poetry, Anderson has written essays, stage plays, screenplays, and tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs). Her short film script, Study Room, was produced in 2018, and her one-act play, Bleak Magic, was produced in 2021.
